Devan Raj, a 23-year-old who once was a bright and cheerful young man and the family’s main breadwinner, found his world turned upside down upon learning of his father’s death from a heart attack. Shouldering the family’s financial burdens, he faced a cascade of misfortunes.
#A year ago, a devastating car accident almost claimed Raj’s life.
Though doctors declared him beyond saving, a miraculous revival seemed to answer his mother’s fervent prayers, and Raj’s heart started beating again.
#After enduring EIGHT brain surgeries
Raj managed to cling to life but accumulated medical bills amounting to over RM70,000. With Raj also incapacitated, the financial strain on the family became even more severe. Unable to afford ongoing medical treatment, Raj had to be cared for at home instead of in the hospital.
#Mrs. Mariammal, plagued by her own health issues
requires thrice-weekly dialysis and is unable to care for her paralyzed son. Thus, their 13-year-old daughter has been forced to take on the responsibilities of caregiving and, due to their dire financial situation, had to drop out of school.
#Recently, Mrs. Mariammal’s condition worsened
due to a bacterial infection in her arm, resulting in a hospital stay of over a month, which further exacerbated their already desperate circumstances.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mariammal, who just recently passed away to a heart attack at 25/7/2024 5.55am 💔
We looked up to her as a source of strength for enduring so much, from the death of her husband to taking care of her son in a coma. New Life Foundation, with contributions from you, the donors, has been closely supporting her family.
At this difficult time, Mariammal’s mother and her youngest differently-abled daughter need the most help to stay strong and take care of her bedridden son in her absence 😞🤲

Raj now needs a minor but important surgery to insert a feeding tube into his stomach, his current nose tube is causing inflammation and discomfort. This step will help reduce pain and improve how he receives nutrients.
