Rawang, Malaysia — When Albee first spotted Otis at a park in Rawang, she knew something was seriously wrong. His back leg was swollen, a bleeding lump visible even from a distance. As she approached, the stench of infection hit her. Upon closer inspection, she realized the tumor on his leg was already bursting open.
Unlike typical strays, Otis wasn’t fearful. He willingly accepted the leash. That moment revealed the truth: Otis had been abandoned.
The veterinary diagnosis confirmed Albee’s suspicions: Otis was suffering from Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT), a common and deadly cancer that spreads between dogs. Left untreated, TVT doesn’t just kill its victim; it risks infecting countless others.
Otis’s story is tragically preventable. TVT is not a rare disease. It is rampant among unneutered dogs, and the solution is simple: neutering.
Thanks to past donations, New Life Animal Shelter has managed to fund Otis’s treatment so far. RM2,722 has been spent on 13 rounds of chemotherapy. But the battle isn’t over. Otis still requires more treatment before he can be neutered safely, ensuring he won’t relapse or spread the disease.
“If your dog had cancer and was bleeding from his private parts, would you just let him suffer out in the streets?” Albee asked, reflecting on Otis’s ordeal.
Today, survivors like Olivia, Guby, and Gigi are thriving because they received the support they needed. Otis deserves that same chance.
He’s still fighting. Every donation brings him one step closer to a pain-free, healthy life. Let’s not allow Otis to become another life lost to neglect.

Thanks to your compassion and support, Otis has completed all 20 sessions! 🙌 However, the lump hasn’t fully disappeared, and his journey to recovery is still far from over. He still requires ongoing follow-ups to ensure a full and safe recovery 🩺
