Six-year-old Muhamad Firdaus, fondly known as Bambam, was attacked by a dog while cycling near his home, a tragedy that shook the nation. Soon after, strays and animal activists were blamed, with some saying, โ€œThis is what happens when you love dogs too much!โ€ ๐Ÿค

But compassion was never the problem. Negligence was! ๐Ÿ“ข

Many strays are victims themselves, abandoned, unchipped, and left to survive in fear. When a dog feels threatened, it reacts out of instinct, not cruelty ๐Ÿ’”

To extend support to the family, Execute AWA led a visit to Adik Bambamโ€™s home, joined by New Life Animal Shelter and other dedicated representatives ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

During the visit, we highlighted the importance of microchipping, a crucial step in responsible pet ownership ๐Ÿ“ฒ The dog involved was found with a collar but no identifiable owner, and some witnesses claimed to have seen the owner before the incident ๐Ÿ” If microchipping had been compulsory, the rightful owner couldโ€™ve been traced and accountability ensured ๐Ÿšจ

#ExecuteAWA is also pushing for tougher laws on pet abandonment and stricter enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 to punish offenders of animal neglect and cruelty, along with reforms that prioritise justice, humanity, and integrity to strengthen animal welfare across Malaysia ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
