This Chinese New Year food pack distribution was one of the toughest missions weโve ever undertaken, but seeing the smiles on their faces makes every bit of hard work worth it ๐
๐ On February 8th, we visited various communities to distribute festive care packs to 80 families in need. Most of them are elderly living alone or individuals with disabilities. Some have children struggling to make ends meet far away ๐โโ๏ธ Some have lost their lifelong partners ๐๏ธ Others are navigating life alone with physical challenges.
While the whole city is busy shopping for the festivities and preparing for reunion dinners ๐๐ฅข we realized upon entering these communities that for these elders, “Chinese New Year” is often just another ordinary day.
Itโs not that they donโt want to celebrate; sometimes, life has simply forced them to get used to the loneliness ๐
Inside these care packs, there is more than just rice and oil ๐ฆ it is a message: “You have not been forgotten.” ๐ซ We hope this allows them to cook a decent meal on New Yearโs Eve and rediscover the long-lost taste of reunion ๐ฅโจ
