Waste in shelters is a problem thatβs often overlooked, but it affects every rescue dog in our care β οΈ
At our shelter, over 200 dogs share the same space every day, and all their waste flows into a single drain, the only way to keep their home clean π Every day, we swipe their waste into the drain twice, making sure it wonβt pile upβ¦ but in the end, it all ends up in the same place.
Cleaning the septic system is not cheap or easy. Each full clean costs RM700, and we need four trips just to make it completely safe and hygienic π¦ The last cleaning was in August 2025, and since then, waste has slowly built up, turning the shelter into an unhealthy environment π¨
Without proper maintenance, infections, diarrhea, and bacteria can spread quickly. What should be a safe haven slowly becomes a place that harms them βΌοΈ These animals have already been abandoned once. All we want is to give them a clean, safe, and healthy home ππ‘
